While Spain continues to prove itself a fertile breeding ground for new, young bands only a very few explode onto the scene in such a way as to be heralded as the latest sensation. Next in line is Sixteenth Sold Spread, whose EP \"Transitions\" was hailed as the best demo of 2006 by Jesús Ordovás (Diario Pop – Radio 3 and one of Spain’s most legendary radio DJs), .H and Mondosonoro, who invited the band to play at their Demoscóscopica Festival.
Musically Sixteenth Solid Spread have developed their own style, influenced by both classic and contemporary artists with a distinctively British sound such as The Cure, Placebo, The Killers and Editors. Edgy guitars, deep, dense bass, pounding drums and keyboards which mix melody and effect in equal measure.
Despite being a band of the moment Sixteenth Solid Spread cannot be accused of jumping on the Post Punk bandwagon. They were formed in Puigcerdá,(a small mountain village in Girona) in 2002, and have more than 100 concerts under their belt besides winning an impressive number of competitions such as Global Battle of the Bands’06, Basic Sinmarc’06, Villa de Moratalla’06, Emergenza’05, Fortuna Sounds’05, and being runners up at Rivas-Vaciamadrid’06, Amfirock’06, Villaba-Atarrabia, Garrofa Rock, Soma Project, FMIC Festival, Sonorama’06, Sona UB. This track record led one journalist to describe them as “The Michael Schumacher of rock n roll”. As well as playing all over Spain, they have also played abroad at Taubertal Open Air Festival (Rotenburgo, Germany) and in the mythical London Astoria (London, UK). Prior to recording their debut LP, they have released three EPs and a video.
Friends since infancy, growing up in La Baix Cerdanya, in the Pyrenees, Albert Moya (vocals & guitar), Salvador Bonada (bass), Albert Rosal (keyboards) and Xavi Tomás (drums) have built a solid unit, patient, hard working, inspired and inspirational complete with tragedy (their first drummer, to whom the LP is dedicated, died at a young age), and more than anything else total faith in themselves. The result is a great rock band with an ever-growing legion of fans and an adrenaline driven live show which will not leave you untouched.
