Album Notes

SUPERSTRING

Dallas, Texas. April 2005. The beginning of a project gone band. During a late night jam session, friends Julie Lange, Kell Curtis and Miguel Fair write a song about getting in the way of your own success called If You Want It. They record a scratch of the song, and Julie lets her friend, filmmaker Brenda Taylor, hear it over a beer at their favorite joint, Sols Taco Lounge. Instinctively, Brenda has a vision that would shortly become an award-winning music video

........and the birth of Superstring.

What came next can only be described as a whirlwind. A one-song recording became a visually stunning HD video in only a few months time. Produced by Taylord Productions and directed by Tod Campbell, the vision of If You Want It the music video was taken to surprising new levels by the special effects genius of Liquid Logixx. The resulting work won multiple awards, including Best Music Video at the NYC Film & Video Festivaland put a band with one song on the map.

This truly inspired albeit backwards beginning left band members Julie Lange (vocals), Kell Curtis (lead guitar), Miguel Pierre Fair (bass), Taylor Tatsch (guitar) and Cooper Hefley (drums) trying to catch up with their own momentum. Within 3 months, Superstring wrote, recorded and pressed its self-released album By All Means an intensely emotive collection that showcases the bands ability to combine melodic hooks with a heavy and powerful musical background. Think Foo Fighters meets the Cranberrieswith ballads that are intimate and introspective.

Although we put ourselves on such a short timeline to write new songs, they just flowed from us I think we just had so much to say, explains Julie. What their creative flow produced is music that lets you get lost, just for a minute (Iceberg, Renegade Radio) helped along by Julies ability to channel the passion of each song directly to her audience. With emotion that can be sweet, angry, sultry, mesmerizing and everything in between, Julies vocal invites even the most obscure of listeners along for the ride that the rest of us took quite voluntarily. (Colin Lynch, R Cat Communications, Feb. 2006)

After the release of By All Means, Superstring embarked on a tour that has already taken them to some great heights, including a show at Nokia Theater in NYC on Broadway with The Click Five for the Cyberathlete Professional Leagues World Finals. The band was then featured on HDNets True Music on January 29, 2006 and was asked to return in July 2006 to release their HD music video to a nationwide audience. Most recently, the feature length film Bloodlines, starring Lou Diamond Phillips, (international release scheduled for Fall 2006) used two cuts from the album Scarred and Sanctuary for action scenes, as well as the trailer.

Obviously, starting backward has done nothing but propel this hot new band forward

Keep an eye out for their upcoming rockumentary Life on A String.

Despite being a bit late running into this music, I enjoyed it immensely. There were a lot of "Love at first listen" tracks on this CD. The music is very cohesive and all comes together smoothly with balance. I want more!

This CD is the best music I've bought in the last couple years! Every single song on it is great!!! And the weird thing is.. I never get tired of listening to it. (for me, that's amazing) I mean over and over and it's still fresh and moving. The professionalism of this band is amazing. Each person contributes perfectly to the "one ness" of their sound. With each one having so much talent...... I hope they can stay together since when each person is soooo good in a band, each person knows it and gets arrogant and then they split up. I pray that won't ever happen to Superstring. I do hope and pray they tour up here to Portland OR.someday. I'd pay serious money to come see and hear them play live. I don't know of a person that I come in contact with that wouldn't love the music that flows from this band. Best band I've heard in a long long time. A++++++++++

The band reminds me of tidbits of The Cult and Concrete Blonde, but then again, they are very original and modern sounding. The production is flawless, vocals are superb, I'm predicting big things for this band.
