Press Release:
Stacey Wheal has released a CD that centers on the talent of the writers and the artistry of her performance. Ironically, it is just this type of recording that usually leads to a long and rewarding career. That fact is not lost on Stacey or those who have worked with her to make her debut album "Bluebird".
Starting with the premise that Stacey's audience would enjoy a simple production of some great songs, the selection of material came first. The concept of singing only Beatle's songs seemed like an excellent vehicle to showcase Stacey's voice and so the hunt for material began. Very quickly it was expanded to include some songs that Lennon and McCartney composed separately after their "Beatle" days. This decision to search into later efforts by the pair gave Stacey access to a couple of beautiful, but lesser known tunes and a chance to make them her own.
Overseeing this production was Jack Richardson whose reputation for excellence is well derserved. (The "Producer Of The Year Award" - Canada's Juno Awards is named after Jack)
From the opening notes of "Bluebird" to the final song, "Goodnight", Stacey tackles some of the most challenging material in popular music and brings a new dimension to many of the songs. The result is a remarkable recording by Stacey, who clearly has a great future. Going your own way has its risks, but it also has its rewards. This album, "Bluebird" that Stacey Wheal has recorded is one of the rewards.

Producer Jack Richardson (Canada's Juno "Producer Of The Year Award" is named after Jack)
Fifteen year old Stacey Wheal was brought to my attention by music industry veteran Terry McManus. I was immediately struck by the talent that I heard in those initial performances and I agreed to become involved as the Producer of her debut album "Bluebird".
I had the opportunity to work with Stacey on this album over several months and her progress was impressive. Besides her gifted and unique vocal talents, she has shown a sophistication beyond her years in her ability to interpret some very difficult Lennon/McCartney material. Quite simply, I believe she has the potential to be a star. Producer of Bluebird - Jack Richardson
Stacey Wheal's cover version of "Here, There And Everywhere" (From her debut album "Bluebird") appears on the compilation Beatles tribute Album "It Was 40 Years Ago Today" Bullseye Records of Canada - released August 2004
Some Reviews from Stacey's contribution to this compilation:
"There are, however, several rather incredible standouts - again, by taking complete ownership of the song and making great music. A very sweet and touching rendition of 'Here, There And Everywhere', by Stacey Wheal ( she was fifteen when she recorded this song) who is turning heads with her silky and haunting voice that embraces several genres. Her debut album, Bluebird, contains many covers of Beatles and ex-Beatles compositions." Reviewer: Wayne Youngblood, Editor/Publisher, Goldmine Magazine Nov. 2004
...."Overall, this is a bit better-than-average tribute(It Was 40 Years Ago Today). I wish it had a few more knockout moments. The only real stunner is Stacey Wheal, who's version of 'Here, There and Everywhere' brings to mind early Kate Bush. It's beautiful." From www.fufkin.com (Mike Bennett)
"Here, There And Everywhere" by Stacey Wheal is a lovely vocal performance by the Canadian singer ( who has an 11 song CD of nothing but Beatles' covers called "Bluebird"). Her angelic voice is perfect here, embracing the lyrics and gently unleashing their tenderness on the listener as a piano plays beneath her voice (I've always thought that a "true singer" should be able to convey all the emotion necessary in a song's performance via a voice and a single instrument, and Stacey's performance reinforces that belief for me) Epinions.com Don_Krider Oct. 2004

Something really special in the Beatles World
author: Richard Astley-Clemas
Stacey Wheal was a girl of 15 when she cut this album in 2000 and that in itself is something of a record.Because it would have been her grandparents who were among the millions of original Beatles fans in the 60s!
She has a light floating voice perfectly suited to these Beatles songs which are mainly the ballads like Goodnight,Here there and everywhere and the Harrison song Long long long-it shows the greatness of the songs and with only a piano and guitar behind her its all down to the voice.a sort of cross between Kate Bush and one of the 60s country pop girls like Sandy Posey.
Really its like wallowing in treacle
Highly recommended
