"You SURE have ability as a composer. Your tunes are -- here's a word we rarely hear anymore -- catchy, and I'm delighted to have caught them." -- Peter Filichia, www.theatermania.com
Out On the Town, a new CD featuring fourteen original songs by singer/songwriter and composer Stacy Glen Tibbetts, is slated for national release on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Out On The Town is the first new release by Tibbetts since 2002’s Alleyways, and the first to feature his jazz-standard-styled songs.
Out On the Town is swinging, the songs are fresh, and the vocals are snappy, light, and fun. The disc includes the winter-themed single “Snowbound,” as well as ballads ("Listen," "Let's Spend a Weekend in Maine"), new retro-swing tunes ("Little Black Thing"), cabaret hits (“Waiting,” “Waste of Time”), and even a couple ("Gina Maria," "New York in the Spring") from Stacy’s scores for new musicals Bella Sicilia: The Gourmet Musical (2005) and Dialing for Donna (2010).
The disc features the vocals of New York jazz singer Catherine Dupuis, who has appeared at venues including Iridium, Smoke, Don’t Tell Mama, and The Kitano, and whose own CDs Moments, Rules of the Road, and I Hear Music have received national airplay and acclaim. Also featured are NYC show pianist and Berklee grad Markus Hauck as well as The Hirsch Jazz Quartet, State College, PA's premiere jazz combo led by saxophonist Rick Hirsch and featuring Mac Himes on guitar, Jeff Beck on bass, and Kevin Lowe on drums.
Stacy performs regularly as a professional/show guitarist, solo singer/songwriter, and with his swing band The Sizzle Sticks. His recent original jazz-tinged and theatre songs have been called "melodious" and "nice work" by NYC theatre critic Peter Filichia and have been performed at Don't Tell Mama in Times Square, at the New York Sheet Music Society's annual Songwriters' Cabaret, at the State Theatre and the Downtown Theatre Center in State College, PA, and at other venues. His 2002 CD Alleyways was called “an eclectic, intelligent blend” by one critic and is available at CDBaby and at http://www.stacyglen.com.

Fun, Swinging Music

This is a very enjoyable set of originals that fit into recognizable styles and traditions while expressing the unique, quirky voices of the writers. Strong performances, all the way around. Recommended.
