One positive outcome of a band deciding to call it quits is the potential for new musical endeavors to be born. Since their split in 2000, fans of soulrockers The Afghan Whigs have experienced singer/guitarist Greg Dulli's R & B adventure, The Twilight Singers. In the past few years former whigs bassist John Curley has found time between his busy family life and running his recording studio in Cincinnati to form Staggering Statistics. Teamed up with Austin Brown (vox, guitar) and Joe Klug (drums, bvox), this trio's debut full length is an expressive rock n roll record built by prolific and experienced musicians. The loose and innate feel of the performances highlights each member's natural ability, while keeping all eight tracks cohesive. Soulful and gritty melodies backed by pounding rhythms will attract rock, blues and art rock enthusiasts alike. Musicians will always be musicians itís just nice when the good guys keep going. Keep an eye out for the band stopping by this town real soon. (MD)

This is one of those rare albums that sounds great on first listen, but grows into an experience with further listens. I've been totally infatuated with this band's songs since I first stumbled across them a couple months back.
Definitely worth checking out the rest of their recordings too.
