Album Notes

Cajun-Cowboy-turned-City-Slicker Stagger Lee follows up last year's trailer park anthems for goat ropers and shitkickers with another classic album. Brimstone Cowboy, part of a trio of albums Lee completed in 2007, features bluesy, psychedelic numbers that are catchy, soulful, heartfelt and powerful.

From the funky opener "Gangster Talk," to the funny, tongue-in-cheek closer "Motherfucker," Stagger Lee shows the country world that this isn't his first rodeo. Taking obvious influence from David Allan Coe, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams, Lee throws in some psychedelic elements straight out of a Donovan or Iron Butterfly song. This combination leads to a brand new genre that you will not be able to resist.

You can drown yourself in sorrows with songs like "More Than Anything Else." You can be bitter and hateful with "Let's Go For Broke." You can sing along with sarcastic numbers like "Out-Redneck Me," "She Drinks Too Much" and "Motherfucker." And you can certainly serenade your #1 hunny with "I Saw An Angel" "La La La La Loving Me" and "Lacey-Lee."

And if you need a political song for a change, try "Crooked Fingers."

Love, Hate, Drugs, Politics, Bitterness, Country, City, Ugly, Beautiful, Heaven, Hell, Comedy, Tragedy, Romance, History. This album has all of these. Psychedelic country is the next big thing. At least it can be for you.
