Stalking Tom is a dark, melodic indie rock
four-piece, based in Oakland, California. Their
organic hooks, artful soundscapes and crushing rhythms
drive home the intense emotion that characterizes
their songs.
The band is composed of Aaron Rusch (guitar),
Todd Collins (drum), Brian Cartwright (bass), and Mike
Peaslee (vocals). Aaron and Todd, former band mates in
the San Francisco industrial rock band Here We Burn,
formed the band in early 2000. Brian joined later that
year. In August of 2001, they found singer Adam Yas.
After recording a demo, they began playing shows in
2002. Later that year, Yas left the band to join Wes
Borland's project Eat the Day.
Mike, the vocalist and composer for the dark
electronic band Cynyc, joined Stalking Tom in 2003.
Previous releases include the Spacewalkers/Cynyc split
Iconoclast (Orange Peal Records) and a remix of The
Dismemberment Plan's "Following Through" on the
farewell compilation A People's History of the
Dismemberment Plan (DeSoto Records).
Stalking Tom is currently playing shows in Northern California and promoting Rusted Red, while writing new material for a follow-up release.

Finally, a group with range where the whole cd doesn't sound the same on every
author: Ann Allard
This cd has a great cover, and a theme running through the music without it being repetitive. Listening to the cd, and actually getting to see the band in action twice, was enough to tell me this band is going to be around for a long time because they have talent musically and with songwriting.

Thoughtful, emotional, driven

Stalking Tom is one of the best rock bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area in quite some time. I've had the pleasure of sharing bills with this wonderful band as well as having seen many of their performances on my own. Every member of this band is solid, and the music captured on this recording is top notch. With a debut release as strong as Rusted Red, it's clear that this band could easily find its way to great success. I hope to someday see these guys take Stalking Tom where it deserves to be, right at the top.
