Album Notes

"Native American psychedelic southern california folk, jazz, rock, blues, country, soul music."-
That's about the only way to describe Jimmy Stallings album first released in 1969.
Even that is probably leaveing out a style or two.
Recorded under the name: J.J.light(you'll have to ask Stallings about that).
The disk was an underground groundbreaker that has been coveted by collectors all these years. Heya was recorded
Utilizing some of the finest studio musicians in Los Angeles many of which who were the same players from---Phil Spector,Beach Boys and Byrds sessions.
The singer/songwriter took a lifetime of memories growing up in New Mexico and the experiences gathered from a searing stint as the bassist in the Sir Douglas Quintet circa the "Mendocino" years and created a classic collection of songs.
They sound like nothing recorded before or since. This is a testament to the imagination and determination of one flat-out "Musical Maverick".
The history books can go on and on raving about this superstar or that genius But Heya proves none of them can out do "Jimmy Stallings".
This is one compadre ruled by the skies and afraid of nothing! LONG MAY HE SHINE.

Good music, bad cover!

Jimmy Stallings (JJ Light for the oldies fans) did a great record. The musics are up to date. I loved then a lot! Long life Jimmy!!!! The album apresentatio it's too bad! First: The CD is a CDR! Is it an artesanal issue? Second: The cover art is very poor, again I ask is it an artesanal issue? I bought another one to do a gift for a friend, but I'm ashamed to do it! If this work is a Jimmy personal issue everything is all right, but if it is a company product it is lamentable. Excuse the criticism, the Music of Jommy always put me on, but this record...

I knew Jimmy and his wife back in the 90s, Good people, We had some good times, It's been a good 15 years since I had the pleasure hearing his music, I still have a recording that Jimmy did for me, Gypsy Rider, I still ride, and when we get together, be it 1%ers or solo riders, they like that tune. So Jimmy, if you read this, Gypsy Rider is the bomb bro.

I'm a little "Musical Guru" to my friends (they say so!) and every half year I was asked for the Original of Heya. In the early 70's it was a great hit and everyone knows it, but don't recognize the artist. Nevertheless I've got now a little piece from my early rock-years and I'm proud to own it!!!!
