Album Notes

The original dB's (singer/guitarists Peter Holsapple and
Chris Stamey, drummer Will Rigby, bassist Gene Holder),
native North Carolinians transplanted to NYC who were at
the vanguard of the jangle-pop movement of the late-'70s and '80s

Since the dB's initial years together, Holsapple played with R.E.M. and now tours with Hootie & the Blowfish. Rigby drums for Steve Earle's group, and Holder has a studio career in New York/New Jersey. Stamey issues albums as a solo artist (recently in collaboration with
Yo La Tengo) and produced such acts as Ryan Adams, Caitlin Cary, Alejandro Escovedo , and Tift Merritt in his studio in Chapel Hill, N.C

Paisley Pop is proud to release a tribute to this great act featuring 22 terrific pop bands from across the USA performing their renditions of dB's classics including Big Brown Eyes, Ask For Jill, Neverland, Amplifier, and more.

The Hanging Chads' version of "Think Too Hard" is a rare recorded collaboration between Jamie Hoover (The Spongetones), Don Dixon (R.E.M. and Smithereens producer),
Bill Lloyd (Foster & Lloyd), and Robert Crenshaw (Marshall Crenshaw drummer and brother).

The Anthony Wayne Sound includes Dennis Diken of the Smithereens and dB's album LIKE THIS producer Chris Butler.

Probyn Gregory of the Mello Cads (and Wondermints) also plays with the Brian Wilson band.

This album will appeal to fans Of:
the dB's, R.E.M., Big Star, The New Pornographers,
