Under the Covers Live

Living under a rock would be the only excuse for missing out on "Under the Covers". This CD sets a new standard for musicians and listeners alike. For those of you who have a fine appreciation for music, I strongly encourage you to pick up this CD and take a listen to what might be among the best compilation of covers yet. The song selections speak for themselves and invite a more sophisticated listener; but what sets this CD apart, is the talent that emerges from the individuals performing. Each of them is an accomplished and gifted artist in their own right, but together they create a sound that most "known" musicians would kill for. In LeeAnne you will find a vocal gift that ranges from soft and sultry to downright rock. (Oh, and by the way, nothing in between is off limits.) She performs each song with poise, but never forfeits the raw emotion that many of their songs evoke. If you dont believe me, track them down at a local gig (www.stanandleeanne.com)and request "You Oughta Know" or "Not an Addict". Then, watch and listen. As for Stan, I have few words but good advice. On CD...stop talking, close your eyes and listen to the guitar at which point you will recognize that he is among the best of the best(signed or unsigned). In person...stop talking, open your eyes and watch his hands at which point you will recognize that he is among the best of the best (signed or unsigned). Either way stop talking and start listening. I can assure you that few artists can rival Stan's talent on guitar and his voice is equally impressive. For years my husband and I have routinely sought out live music and in most cases, we return home disappointed, agreeing the talent is mediocre at best. Upon "discovering" Stan and LeeAnne, our faith has been restored. This is a duo not to be missed. BUT...be forewarned - if you want to hear Brown Eyed Girl or the like (I can't even bear the thought of typing the "M" word) turn on the local pop radio station and bypass this duo. If, however, you want to hear real talent, click on "add to wish list" and immediately find a date on their schedule to witness true musicianship. I personally have wished for a duo like this for years and finally, my wish has been granted! P.S. If you catch this duo live, ask to get them out from under the covers. (Their originals are on par with a beautiful bedspread that deserves exposure.)

This "album", dating myself, is hard to put into words. It is unequivocally the best cover record I have heard. Albeit, each of their song selections are among my favorites, one would think that would be more difficult to please me. Not in the case of Stan and LeeAnne. This gals voice brings to the listener a chameleon, she takes you everywhere she goes while simultaneously making you wonder who she is, and what she has felt in what seems many lifetimes. I can not tell her age by the cover although irrelevant other than it looks as though she could not have experienced in years what she conveys in song. She is both artful and remarkable! Onto the guitar work, Intricate yes, also suiting each track his work. Difficult to master. More than a proficient player. Hard to imagine this is a Live recording, it seems as though he, and they would have needed some assistance in all they have managed. He has both punch and seems to know when to let her tell the story. A polished duo with both heart and earthiness. I will research this duo and hope to pick up anything they record as a team. Thank you
