THE STANLEY ABERNATHY PROJECT
Critically acclaimed trumpeter Stanley Abernathy takes a break from B.B. King and his band to produce and release his own CD titled "ONLY WHEN I THINK OF YOU". This CD is an album of well crafted original pieces and select covers that portray his versatility. From smooth jazz to R&B spiced with Blues and just enough Funk, his music reflects the passion and talent of the man. You can hear his love of the art in every performance.

Stanley Abernathy is a man steeped in musical history. You could even say he has music "in his blood”. Stanley is the son of the late Billy Abernathy, a critically acclaimed jazz trumpet virtuoso who taught at Kennedy King City College. Stanley began playing drums when he was five and trumpet soon thereafter. Stanley was exposed to the Big Band Sound at an early age because of his father's involvement in music. He studied music at Tennessee State University with the culmination of his studies ending at the Chicago Conservatory of Music.

Behind every great singer there is music, and how great the music is can determine the success of the singer. Stanley Abernathy is one of those exceptional musicians, who has supported the careers of many contemporary singers. Stanley has accompanied artists such as Nancy Wilson, Gladys Knight, Bobby “Blue” Bland and Sammy Davis Jr. His resume includes performances on several Grammy award-winning albums, and also features his television, film and commercial appearances. For the last 10 years he has performed with the legendary B.B. King. Now is definitely the time to experience Stanley Abernathy's magnificent solo project.

Band Performance: Stanley Abernathy tours with professional musicians. The band lineup includes trumpet, keyboard, electric guitar, bass, drums, and a female vocalist.
The Stanley Abernathy Project Band is an eclectic mix of truly accomplished musicians. He can guarantee the best in local and national talent. From the uptown New York City funk of the Brawner Brothers, to the sophisticated vocal styling of Diane Lotney he can draw on his years of touring experience to promise that the talent supporting him is always second to none.
