Album Notes

My Green Dream is an eclectic compilation, multiple styles of music, widely varied topics, cross-genre moods. The binding force is the heart and wit of one of America's environmental heroes. Originally released as The Eco-Troubadour in 2002, My Green Dream has been repackaged and re-released to focus even more clearly on the best adult songs in Stan's bag of songs.

REVIEW
Stan Slaughter’s “My Green Dream” is a privileged glimpse into the very soul of a songwriter. At once both a heartwarming vision of a hopeful future and a gentle reminder of the influences we all have on our home planet. With compassion and respect, Stan took me on a magical and exquisite journey through a variety of musical and emotional feels. Fluid, timeless and melodic – his creation is like a mother’s loving presence on a dark path through a forest of troubled uncertainty.

A pleasant and easy blend of acoustic/electric with flavorings of latin, jazz, pop and ballad styling, I found all the songs to be unique yet comfortably familiar. “Cosmic Stew” is smooth and luscious with a silky catchiness I really enjoyed. Stan’s studied lyrics are poignant without being preachy.

This is the most thoughtful CD Stan has ever produced and includes quiet, serious moments absent from his other CDs. “Down on the Farm” is an unvarnished look at modern farming, unsettling in its truthfulness. His classic and immortal song “Babe” about a workhorse on his family farm, will forever remain the song that takes me to my core of sorrow for childhood lost. Stan’s ability to weave his own personal experience into his songs is both raw and breathtaking at the same time.

This CD would be a crowning achievement for any songwriter but for Stan Slaughter, with a string of exceptional CDs to his credit, it is a stunning gift of beauty, purity and heart. Thank you Stan for your kindness and your courage.

Kindest regards
