A continuation of the infinite cycle, twilight music for rainy drives and break-ups. Love without safety-belts: your heart through the glass at 75 mph.
"degree of focus": Recorded by a guy with a guitar, some digital equipment, and a home studio, these songs are confessions of lost loves and broken hearts. The album is a release point for the things that were never said but should have been talked about long ago. They're not perfect, and they aren't trying to be.
Currently, the starfirefive is further developing the scope of its sound: still not perfect, still not trying to be, still singing songs of stars, of life support and balancings.

YA that's what's it's all about
author: Popstar
Somehow ingrained in our sense of being love is supposed to solve all. In the courtship it's promised. People put on there best behavior, but after you get to the nitty gritty, well if you stay in love, the illusion grows. The belief that life without the other is impossible developes, and then it generally falls apart. Starfirefive speaks for all our heartbreaks. Romanticizes the beauty of romantic failure an inherent part of life. Thank God someone is telling me, me too, I've lost love too, because even though it happens to everyone, so few sum it up so clearly so right. That's why I give five stars and hope that starfirefive keeps on loving.

The Return of New Ro.
author: Dyba
Bands such as Duran Duran and camouflage are often dismissed as being "pop" or bubbly. There is a side to DD that many don't know or remember.. a darker, more melancholy side. This is the spirit being channeled by the Starfirefive. This impressive debut cd captures a sadness, an honesty, a longing ambiance I haven't heard since the original New Ro Movement. As for picking one song as "best" I don't think this is possible. Each song builds upon the other, like a chapter in a novel. I very much look forward to seeing the growth and progression of this band. In the meantime, I will immerse myself in this soundtrack for a cold rainy night...

best when played alone
author: Aerospace
like wandering an empty house asking questions and proposing answers only for yourself, yet never reaching a total conclusion. a day of reflection complete with rain, dueling voices putting doubt and hope in mind, recollections of past events that incur second guessing, and thoughts of events that haven't happened yet.

'visceral third degree'
author: Khaoticbliss
Raw emotion bleeding through all our best tourniquets, clamp on the smile but the stains still show. This is a therapeutic exercise in 'fuck you I'm dying' that shows those rare moments when all the shattered pieces turn to dust between your fingers and you can't decide whether to keep trying with your diminishing options or sweep the whole thing under the rug. The kind of cd that says everything you wanted to say and couldn't, the kind of cd you buy and go leave on that certain someone's doorstep without a note or a name. Visceral and burning, smooth and bittersweet all at the same time.
