STARFISH PRIME
'Ambulacral Groove'
Starfish Prime is a band with a groove that is unlike others and their EP shows just that. The band is fronted by Nick Starfish and backed up by an assortment of other artists to display this by way of Ambulacral Groove which is an educated form of biologically saying that this EP contains 'Starfish' groove. It does indeed as the music and lyrics are all Nick Starfish. The EP has an easy ambient sound that in places provides glimpses of a harder rock feel that is needed on a stressful drive or on a plane!
With five songs this EP can get you to your destination with well written and thoughtful lyrics and enough rock grooves to relax your mind and keep your thoughts on the lyrics and rocking to the parts that have a more true rock feel.
'Never Pretend' and ' Devine' are two of the songs that combine these elements and showcase the musical intricacies that display good use of drums, soft bass lines and smooth guitars along with well placed keys to make these a pleasure to hear. It also showcases the range in which Nick's voice has the best vocal accompaniment and truly compliments the musical sounds. This is best displayed in the tracks 'The Forgotten Son' and 'Devine' where Nick places his voice in a much more fluid and lower range through most to truly compliment the amazing music. With so much potential it is hard to not look forward to what is to come next in a full CD from Nick Starfish and Starfish Prime.
