Stars & Garters don’t view country music as an artifact to be preserved in a museum. Firmly planted in the classic country tradition of Buck, Merle and Hank, they also have a healthy respect for the Ramones and the Clash. While the bulk of their set is made up of original songs about the big three (love, liquor and murder) you are just as likely to hear a Rancid or Dead Milkmen tune as an old Waylon and Willie chestnut. With a live show chock full of rhinestones and three-part harmonies they continue to raise the bar for live music in Sacramento (when they’re not passed out underneath it).

I'd like to give this album five stars but the best I can do is four and a half. Very strong album but I can live without cuts eight and nine. Ouside of those two songs it's a great first effort. I've bought several copies for family and friends. Stockton Boulevard is a beautiful song with some great guitar work. I highly recommend this album. Also, if you get a chance to see them live don't miss it. I've seen them three times and they put on a great show.
