\"... the tunes are a diverse set of originals and covers. \'Beethoven\'s Old Hen\' is the traditional \'Cluck Old Hen\'\" bookended by \'Fur Elise.\' \'Can\'t You Hear Me Calling\' is the Bill Monroe classic sung a bit more than usual. \'Dueling Banjos\' is the old warhorse jazzed and peppered with syncopation. \'Senor\' is a Bob Dylan tune with a \'troubled times\' theme. All of these are well-done.

The track that is most impressive, however, is their cover of \'Stompin\' AT The Savoy,\' on which Pete Dasher states the theme exquisitely and then goes himself one better on his solo. It is this kind of light, relaxed groove that the band does best. While there are moments of drive and intensity here, all the memorable tracks come when the band is thinking lightly and politely.\"

Steel String Session appeals to all metes of the musical-appreciation scale and will make you smile with their sneaky musical asides tucked in at the most unexpected moments.

The musicians have an uncanny way making a disparate audience (traditionalists and newcomers) feel that they all arrived to a performance in the same vehicle whether it be a pickup truck or a Saab convertible.

Though the core members met on the river, they honed their music on the terra firma of local honky-tonks and opry houses. Soon they were playing in front of thousands at festivals... and still at honky tonks, just further a-field. Steel String Session is intent on creating a stunningly dynamic acoustic sound that includes original music and songs from the rich heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kentucky’s bluegrass pastures, as well as the bright lights of Nashville.
