James Steensma's voice has captivated many first-time listeners. Hailing from Northeast Indiana, Steensma is, however, no new face to the music scene. In 1989, he appeared off-Broadway in the musical "One Voice." He has appeared in over 30 musical and theatrical productions throughout the Midwest, garnering 3 Anthony Award nominations (Ft. Wayne Theatre Awards) for acting in the early 1990's.
He left the theatre in the mid-90's to focus on his music and family. Having performed with several quartets, and as a member of a popular duo, Steensma has sung in front of multiple thousands of people. In 1994, he was the opening act at a concert for the Christian recording group AVB. He has been a featured soloist in churches and cathedrals, musical halls and theaters. He has also been the featured soloist at local observances of the National Day of Prayer, Earth Day, and Habitat for Humanity's dedication ceremonies.
In 1989, Steensma recorded the haunting "David's Song" for the official "One Voice" soundtrack. And now comes his solo debut CD, "...Even in the Quietest Moments."
This intimate album of faith - with piano, guitar and voice alone - features four songs written by Keith Green, and includes covers of songs made popular by Carolyn Arends, Donny Osmond, Marc Cohn, the Bee Gees, and others. Along with those eight tracks, you'll find two original numbers written by Steensma for this project: "Even in the Quietest Moments" and "The Last Twenty Years."
The first release from the CD, "Even in the Quietest Moments", received radio airplay on stations in Northeast Indiana, and on the internet.
In 2003, Steensma recorded "Solo El Amor" with Jaime Shoup for her CD "You Give Me Wings To Fly." Jaime duets with James on "In This Moment" for Steensma's project.
Come hear why those that have listened to this CD have stated "it gave me chills. You have a real talent! (ivory2000@aol.com)"

Love his voice!
author: Donna Stevens
Wow, a friend of mine from Illinois told me to listen to this singer she happened on while visiting CDBaby, and what a singer he is! His voice is so smooth, and really hits the high notes. He really keeps the spirit of Keith Green alive. I hope he puts out more CD's. I've enjoyed the one I got from her.

A Unique Voice
author: Brent Caufman
While visiting Tower Records website earlier, I linked to CDBaby's website, and searched for my favourite group "The BeeGees." I happened upon a gentleman by the name of James Steensma who covers one of the most incredible Gibb offerings: "Immortality." What a unique voice this man has, it seems so pure. You can tell the style is very welcoming and I enjoyed listening to his sample work. I hope to find his version of "Immortality" so I can listen to it further.

Wow, Wow, Wow

This CD is something else. My wife got it and she won't stop listening to it. So I started listening to it too. I'll tell you what...if he had 100 CD's out I'd buy each one of them. You don't get tired of listening to his voice. Tracks 2 and 10 are not as good as the rest of the CD, but heck, nothing can Top Track 1. The best $13 we ever spent
