Album Notes

After Princess Diana's death, Elizabeth Stefanko told her parents she wanted to make a difference in the world, using her voice to inspire.

As a talented 10-year-old, she is already gaining on that goal.

Soon into her career, Michael Crawford, scheduled to sing on Robert Schuller's "Hour of Power", requested the Crystal Cathedral identify a talented young singer for a special duet. An audition tape (Elizabeth performing a Quincy Jones tune) was over-nighted to Australia. Crawford liked what he heard and Elizabeth, after a short morning rehearsal, sang with the famed musician that night.

Was she nervous? "Well, no, but it was the first time I'd ever sung in front of an orchestra and my knees sort of shook," Elizabeth said.

Her voice is pure, lyrical and simply delightful.

At the Crystal Cathedral, where Elizabeth also attends the Academy of Performing Arts, Elizabeth frequently sings - for the Sunday show, seen by millions of television viewers worldwide and for other special events, including the Glory of Christmas.

She's also brought Jimini Cricket to life and Maid Marian in Southern California musical theatre performances.

Elizabeth's parents are adamant that Elizabeth sings correctly so she will not ruin or tax her developing voice. "Too often youngsters with natural talent like Elizabeth's are not given proper training and care. Her vocal teacher makes sure that Elizabeth doesn't belt out songs and that she protects her voice," her mom, Tonia Stefanko, said.

In this first album of soothing lullabies, envisioned to bring peace and calm to listeners of all ages, Elizabeth Stefanko continues down her stated path of inspiration, hope and love.

Through her music, you are invited to be a part of this journey.

Elizabeth Stefanko's dad, an emergency medicine physician, often plays his daughter's soothing music when stitching a child's wound or performing other scary procedures.

With lullabies drifting through their heads, youngsters are soon calmed by sweet sounds as Dr. Bob Stefanko does his healing work.

And it is no wonder why ... University of Toronto researcher, Sandra Trehub, suggests lullabies are used in every culture to soothe and calm.

While Trehub and colleagues push for facts on how music and lullabies came to be, the rest of us already have the answers - Music makes us human; lullabies provide the very first step.

Babies will love it - so will their parents.

Elizabeth Stefanko,11, is an up and coming artist. (The kid has sung live with Michael Crawford!) Her voice is simply beautiful. Musical selections are just right for the parents who want to expose their babe to better music. The tempo is excellent to induce a sleep state. Everbody should listen to this one - it's not just for babies, in my opinion.
