Album Notes

i am currently in the process of putting a website together. for now, here is a bit of information about me. the double CD set includes a 6 page booklet of the story of the apartment tapes. if you would like a copy of the text in the booklet, I'd be glad to email it upon request. just email me and add in subject "Steffen apt bio".
i am a singer songwriter from Cincinnati, Ohio. i have opened shows for Randy Newman, Preston reed, Jonatha Brooke's, Christine Lavin, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Katie Melua, The Wood Brothers, and John Hammond. Outside of that i have been pretty much a local musician playing the Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Indiana club circuit, of which i have currently taken a break from, as i have been teaching myself some classical and ragtime piano. not sure why, other than i enjoy it. i play out occasionally as time permits opening shows or local appearances.
i am continuing to write, and hope to have a new CD early 2007.

UPDATE 8/17/06
Well, there have been significant delays obviously. Mostly due to me working a night job which has been a thorn in my side but one must pay the bills. It has made it difficult to book many gigs. At the same time i have decided that 6 nights in bars and coffee house's is not entirely what I'd like to be my main income either, as i have done that more than i can mention.


I still play when i can and recently opened for a lady named Katie Melua from the UK. A very nice voice, and very beautiful lady. She and her whole crew were some of the nicest people i have ever met. They brought over their own sound system, and it was truly impeccable. State of the art digital boards and absolutely the best sound system i have ever played through. I'm guessing the crowd was about 300 and after my 3rd song a young girl brought a rose up to me on stage. The audience was lovely and the night was special to me. I wish all that enjoy my music could have heard me that night.


The web page is still in the works but as from the above mentioned work schedule, really not much to report, but i have my brother helping me on it now getting it laid out.


As for those whom have purchased this CD, you will soon be the owners of a collectors item. After the remaining CD'S are sold here on CD Baby, the CD will no longer be available in the same form. With technology changes i will be condensing the booklet on the CD and pictures to make a smaller easier to print booklet (it is now a 6 page booklet). I feel by now everyone whom was interested in how it was recorded and where, and tech stuff and pics would have purchased by now. The CD music content however will remain the same and still be 2 Cd's. Albeit i will probably change the layout of the cd labels also. It just takes me a long time to print the book, and sales haven't been significant of the CD itself. However the digital distribution has gotten the music out to a lot of folks (albeit not a lot of income), and my thanks to all whom have listened or downloaded and enjoyed the tunes and passed them around.


The songs are ready and have been for the new CD. I just need to find time between my work schedule to get them recorded as sometimes i work in the day too making some extra money. Hopefully i will find time for a couple weeks vacation to try and get all that together. Just haven't been able to take a vacation for awhile as where i work vacation is not paid. So will be making a sincere effort to get that done when i can.
