Biography
In the tradition of the great vintage rock supergroups, Stepanian is first and foremost- a band. Like Bon Jovi and Santana before them, their moniker comes from front man, Eric Stepanian. However, in this band each member contributes something unique and essential to the mix. Stepanian's signature sound is unmistakable. This Boston quartet exhibits the explosiveness of radio pop with the organic soul of a smoky barroom. Their live show is littered with a provocative brand of lyrical pop songwriting, sweet baritone vocals, tongue tying saxophone hooks and a rhythm section that won't let even the shyest of crowds stand still. The unparalleled camaraderie that exists among the band is extended to their audiences and leaves new and old fans coming back for what Stepanian can only describe as "Crazy Rock Love".
Past and Present
The band's promising future is highlighted by many important past and present accomplishments. In a relatively short time, Stepanian has performed in clubs, universities, and conferences spanning up and down the eastern seaboard. On the way, Stepanian has supported several major-label acts, including Maroon5, Jason Mraz, Howie Day, Graham Colton, Robert Randolph, Matt Nathanson and even the likes of Jurassic5 and Busta Rhymes. The band's independently released EP, For Lack of Better Words, has sold over 2000 copies and garnered a great deal of critical praise and credibility. Produced by Chris Keup (Jason Mraz) and Stewart Myers (Agents of Good Roots), the six-song disc was recorded at Dragonfly Studios (Dave Matthews Band, O.A.R, Bruce Hornsby), effectively capturing the crafty songwriting and intelligent, heartfelt lyrics that have made many of the tunes crowd favorites at every Stepanian live show. In 2004, "These Days," a spirited and lyrical track from For Lack of Better Words, received the attention of ABC Family channel, and the network picked up the song for use in their new show, "Knock First." 2005 marks the completion of Stepanian's brand new full-length studio album, Autumn She Leaves. The 12-song disc was produced and mixed by Dave Chalfant (Erin McKeown, The Nields) and features guest vocals by friend and Universal recording artist Stephen Kellogg (Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers). With a sound that is as exciting as it is unique, a burgeoning fan base, and an expansive touring schedule, Stepanian looks to have a major impact on the national music scene in the near future.
