Stephanie Eden, a rising folk singer/songwriter, is releasing her first full-length CD entitled Colors in Eden this January 2002.
After a year of singing in cafes and on the street corners of Boulder, Stephanie entered the recording studio.
The resulting songs are a blend of personal narratives, social commentary and high-spirited performance.
Her lyrics are from a place that's deeply personal yet universally appealing.
For her, "songwriting is one of the only things that is truly healing, it's a release for me.
If I sit down and write it and sing it, then I can move on." Each track is an opportunity for listeners to experience Stephanie's soaring and soulful voice.
Stephanie absorbed the sounds of such folk legends as the Indigo Girls, Martin Sexton, Ani Difranco, and Dar Williams-the inspiration for her unique folk/rock groove and insightful lyrics.
Stephanie continues to perform for a loyal and supportive following in the Boulder area, while refining her style and expanding her techniques.
In addition to solo performances, Stephanie collaborates with other gifted musicians who believe in her undeniable talent.
Kai-Lin Yong, first-chair violinist of the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, appears on Colors in Eden and frequently joins Stephanie on the stage.
Stephanie developed her musical roots at an early age in a small community outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
As a child, music surrounded her.
Her parents always had the living room stereo playing classical, folk or rock music and often sang with their children at home and at church.
Stephanie responded by singing her first notes before even speaking her first words.
As she grew, singing became Stephanie's favorite hobby and school activity.
Her first solo performance was at the age of thirteen.
In high school Stephanie began to experiment with her own musical compositions and took advantage of every opportunity to showcase her talent and push it to the next level.
She soon realized that singing was what she wanted to do more than anything else.
Her musical path took a dramatic turn in the spring of 2000, when Stephanie decided to follow her dream of pursuing her musical endeavors.
She visited Boulder, Colorado in search of a new setting.
"After visiting Colorado, I felt it was time," recalls Stephanie.
She established herself in Boulder, took a job helping to teach children and focused her energies on composing her own lyrics and melodies.
The awesome backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and sparkling night sky was a perfect environment for Stephanie's songwriting.
She also committed herself to mastering the guitar and progressed rapidly.
She met Jimmy Dunn, an experienced musician and producer, who worked with Stephanie to capture her essence in the studio.
Stephanie recently quit her day job so she could focus full-time on professionally making music.

Strong, sensitive and most of all honest.
author: M. Parker
This debut is one of the strongest I've heard. The lyrics are startlingly honest and remarkably poetic. Stephanie Eden's voice blends etherial majesty with earthy richness (especially in "Woman"). "Lamentation for a Fledgling" is my personal favorite. The lyrics reverberate with pain even while the music suggests that no matter the pain we endure, our choices are guided somehow and that we will be okay. This fabulous CD is a necessity for anyone who needs a bear hug, a good cry, or empowerment.
