Album Notes

Ocean Waves by StephenBard is about love and family; About being away from things that make you keep on hanging in there till you're back. Sometimes you're somewhere you don't want to be. This album is about the stuff you see and the things you feel when you're there.

It's got some Beatles in it, some Billy Joel, some Joni Mitchell, some Indigo Girls...but it's all StephenBard.

StephenBard writes all the songs, plays all the instruments and sings all the parts. There's alot of acoustic guitar and hammond organ. Especially fun and water-like throughout is the Fender Flower Telecaster through a Leslie speaker that gives the impression of George Harrison's work on ABBEY ROAD and LET IT BE. Dreamy Joe and CherieLynn sing harmony on "Vanishing" which quotes from "Sloop John B." The Friends Of Jon Cohen perform "For Eddie Ray Howard."
Howi Vinni co-produced "And The World Goes Round." RyanBall manned the console, twiddled the knobs and pushed the faders.

StephenBard is not a rock star, a pop star or a movie star. He's a husband, a father and a musician and this is the most personal, heartfelt music of his life thus far.

Ocean Waves, for those times when you're waiting in the darkness and searching in the silence.

Can't stop listening

When you find music that speaks to you, you soak it in like the sun. You can't help yourself but fall in love with it over and over with each listen. This is music, this is emotion, this is what it's all about. This album should be required listening. People throw the word "genius" around casually, but it should be noted that there is no more appropriate word that can describe Stephen Bard's music. I didn't think I could love it more. I was wrong.

this is by far stephen bard's best work since his Bardtodd album from the mid 90s' - when i sat down and listened to this record, i couldn't comprehend how as the songs flowed into each other, they just kept picking up steam and getting better and better and better and better. from the John Lennon'ish Too Weird for Words to the classic Stephen Bard sound on Baby Girl Ocean Blue, this album gets 5 stars... 10 if I had the option

clever turn of phrasing

this is Stephen's most personal compilations to date.I could not help but be drawn into Stephen's heart felt lyrics on I Didn't Think I Could Love You More and Baby Ocean Blue. The reality and honesty is more than refreshing in a world and business of affected sincerity.I also appreciate his clever turn of phrasing in such songs as For Eddie Ray Howard. It is apparent that Mr.Bard not only is gifted musically and lyrically but is coming from his own strong personal sensibility and emotional integrity. I would Like to thank my friend Pam for the exposer of the many talents of Stephen Bard, and am looking forward to the next CD. Sincerely, Ann B.
