ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Stephen Bell was born and raised in New York City, the birth place of Salsa Music. There is alot of cross polinization between Jazz musicians and Latin musicians in New York and consecuently Stephen developed many strong friendships and musical relationships within the latin community. Later on Stephan became interested in classical guitar and Flamenco music and traveled to Spain to study classical guitar with the late guitar master Andres Segovia.

Stephen spent many years touring the world as a virtuoso classical guitarist. After settling down in Berkeley California to raise his daughter Stephen began to play in local clubs. During the 70's and 80,s Berkeley became a haven for expatriot Latin American artists fleeing various oppressive governments and Stephen began to play with many of these wonderfull artists. This album is really a tribute to all the incredible Latin American musicians that were so kind and generous in sharing their most precious and beautiful culture. Stephen's playing and singing reflect strong influences of his Jazz, Classical, Salsa, and Flamenco background. The selections on this CD are amoung the most romantic songs born in the heart of the Americas.
