notes
Celebrating Amercian roots music, Steppin' In It is an acoustic quartet with hearts based in tradition and minds forever moving in creative directions. The combination of multi-instrumentalists Andy and Joe Wilson, upright bassist Dominic Suchyta and singer/songwriter Joshua Davis is a rootsy roller coaster ride of original and traditional music. Playing everything from blues to bluegrass, calypso to cajun, woeful waltzes to western swing, Steppin' In It has become one of Michigan's most sought after live acts.
"Combining originals and traditionals, old-time music with zydeco and blues, Michigan's Steppin' In It play some of the liveliest and most rocking acoustic roots music around. On their second release, Last Winter in the Copper Country, they balance hillbilly, Cajun, European folk and blues music with stunning and sensitive musicianship. They also balance the traditionalist's fine touch of artists like David Rawlings and Doc Watson with the innovative playfulness of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones or Lunasa-they make traditional music contemporary without selling its soul in the process. On the melancholic title tune, the classic "Trouble in Mind" and the reeling "Two Step Les Fréres Wilsón," these guys show an amazing dexterity and range as they cover instrumental duties including guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, accordion, steel guitar, dobro, National guitar and even shortwave radio. Singin' from Michigan's Soul
author: Amy IThere are no words for this group, the songs they write, the covers they play, or the music they make. Last Winter is a phenomenal album.

Eclectic, rootsy and soulful - Bluegrass and beyond!
author: Angela JosephineThere are certain songs that just reach into you and won't let go. Maybe it's because I went to Michigan Tech - but I listened to "Last Winter in the Copper Country" on the site and ordered the CD without a second thought. I am not disappointed! These guys are talented and deliver up a great variety while keeping it all cohesive. The CD was a perfect compliment to a recent drive through Kentucky on my way to Nashville. Can't wait to see them live!
Excellent Roots/Bluegrass/Swing, etc CD
author: MarianneSaw this band for the first time at the Calumet Theatre and loved the variety. Was pleased to find the CD has a simliar range, although nothing compares to seeing them LIVE. ;) They are excellent and have broadened the range of music styles I love. I highly recommend this CD!

i am so happy to have this cd!
author: kateThis new CD from Michigan band Steppin' In It demonstrates a lot of growth from their last CD. This band somehow completely captures Michigan on this album, and at the same time they throw in some zydeco, blue grass, folk and even some hill country ballad style vocals...THEY ARE GREAT! This band does a bit of everything. My 6 year old son and I love this band...we have since their first CD!
I LOVE it!! Even my 15 year old daughter loves listening to you guys!
author: PaulaI am extremely pleased to find that this CD is a good reflection of what we experienced at your live concert in Owosso recently. I am listening to it over and over and never tire of it. It ranges from frisky/silly feel-happy to soulful and reflective, with groovin' jazzy in-between. I love all your styles and admire your broad range of talents. I look forward to seeing you live again real soon!!
