notes
Celebrating Amercian roots music, Steppin' In It is an acoustic quartet with hearts based in tradition and minds forever moving in creative directions. The combination of multi-instrumentalists Andy and Joe Wilson, upright bassist Dominic Suchyta and singer/songwriter Joshua Davis is a rootsy roller coaster ride of original and traditional music. Playing everything from blues to bluegrass, calypso to cajun, woeful waltzes to western swing, Steppin' In It has become one of Michigan's most sought after live acts.
"On their debut release Children Take Your Shoes Off, Michigan based Steppin' In It play an assortment of musical genres with remarkable panache and sincerity. While Steppin' In It can jam, the band prides themselves on writing remarkably concise songs, which avoid excessive pentatonic noodling or show-off soloing. Instead, the band actually follows the standard blues cliché "just feel the music," and as a result Children Take Your Shoes Off should unquestionably be considered the sleeper album of 2000."

author: Amy IThis is one of my favorite cd's of all time. This cd plays like seeing the band live - they keep it mixed up and they keep it fun - while their mass talents shine through.
Wonderfully fun and different.
author: JiggyYou can get up and dance or just sit and listen -- these guys make great music and on the live tracks especially you can tell they're having fun. I bought this because I'd been given their 2nd album and loved it. Now I can't tell you which I like more.
