notes
"We've been hearing tales recently about a Lansing, Michigan based folk-rockin', sweet jazz, bluegrass, old-time swingin' quartet with some serious buzz. We took one listen and were hooked, as you will be when you hear Steppin' In It at work. In the Words of Sally Van Meter, producer of their latest release -Hidden In The Lowlands- they are 'what would happen if Hank Williams joined forces with Wayne The Train Hancock and a folk band featuring Tom Waits'. Intrigued yet? Well, you will be...they accomplish the seemingly impossible task of making the most traditional sounds contemporary, blending hillbilly rackets with blues rhythms and European folk. It's like subtle musical alchemy. They may claim to just be steppin' in it, but we think they're knee deep in the future of bluegrass."

Should be known the world over
author: D. HEATONAnother album full of variations and styles, not as good as last winter in the copper country on first listening but gets better each time you play it.
Great CD--even better when seen LIVE!
author: Rose KThis band is so talented--each member brings his own special touch to the music. I saw them at the Trinity House Theatre in Livonia, MI and bought two of their CDs right then and there. Unfortunately, "Hidden in the Lowlands" wasn't available but the good part of that was I bought their "Last Winter in the Copper Country" which I absolutely love. Now, when I listed to "Lowlands" it takes me right back to their show at Trinity House--great songs and outstanding musicianship. If you ever get a chance to see these guys live, DO IT!
I definitely love this CD, full of talent and fun
author: FrancesThis CD is something I believe worthy to keep and play from time to time. It can always seize me in just such a simple way, and cheer me up. Life maybe is just as simple as it, can be full of fun and charm. Can I play it again?... ...

Unique and compelling...A definite treat!!!
author: ConnieSteppin In It is one of the most compelling CD's I own. Lyrics are thought provoking and their sound is unique and compelling. The best I have heard in a long time. Highly recommend this CD for anyone who likes Bluegrass, Folk, or Blues.
My favorite cd!
author: Amanda RoseI put this cd in any time I miss my home town Lansing. They have a fan club growing down here in Naples, FL. A great mix of songs that will always make me smile.
Anyone that appreciates Michigan's off-the-beaten-path will appreciate this CD
author: RobSteppin' In It is a rarity in this world and this CD demonstrates thier unique talent superbly. This group has forged a seemingly classic niche by weaving sounds and words that create lasting feeling in a way little known in this day and age. A group of relative young'ins, they have the wisdom and soul of an old-timer daycare bus. And as a bonus for anyone who knows, they frequently sum the subtle romance of northern Michigan in a way that can bring a tear to one's eye. Thanks boys. It is a wonder to think that you may be making music my grandkids can see live one day.
Life would not be complete without Steppin' In It
author: LisaI knew these guys way back when...they are the most amazing musicians and incredible people to boot. Life is too short to live it without Steppin' In It. You have really out done yourselves this time boys! Hidden in the Lowlands is incredible!! The best yet! Come out west...Portland needs you!

I was recently asked the question, "if you were stranded on a desert island and could take only 2 cds with you, which would they be?" I knew immediately that this would be one of them, the only question was, which of their other 2 would I take as my second choice? Yet another fantastic cd by a fanstastic band.
Another Goody
author: ShannonThis CD makes Steppin' In It's list even more complete. I would recommend Last Winter In The Copper Country as well.
Their best CD Yet!!!!!
author: AngeliqueThis is the best cd from Steppin in it! Incredible songwriting and great collection of instruments. Love it Love it, would strongly recommend purchasing 'children take your shoes off' and ' last winter in the copper country'.
Another great collection of eclectic, folksy, bluegrass, cajun tunes
author: Jeff KalemberThis Michigan based folk group just keeps getting better. This CD captures the energy of seeing them live while still offering a refined mix of everything they've got. If you don't have their other two CD's and you appreciate the folk scene you better get 'em soon.
