Album Notes

For 10 years, four young men from Lansing, MI have been breathing new life into old-time music. Steppin\'
In It has earned a reputation for their mastery of traditional American styles and their incredible variety of
vintage instruments. The band has become a staple at folk festivals, concerts and clubs from coast to coast
playing what Performing Songwriter Magazine calls \"some of the liveliest and most rocking acoustic roots
music around.\" The quartet put these years of sweaty stages, highway miles & tattered set-lists to tape with
the release of their latest album \"Simple Tunes For Troubled Times.\"

The new record is a masterful melting pot of American musical traditions. Combining old sounds: raucous
country blues, swing, cajun, jugband rockers and tin pan alley ballads, Steppin’ In It has created something
fresh here. Genre and state lines blur as the sounds of New Orleans mingle with those of Chicago, as San
Antonio and New York City meet. These guys have always had a sound that defies labeling, but with “Simple
Tunes for Troubled Times”, they have moved beyond traditional styles and crafted a collection of original songs
in a class of its own.
