The Stereotypes are the kind of pop/rock band that you can't help but love, for their brand of music is the kind of ear candy that you want to hear over and over. Imagine, if you will, Jeff Tweedy and Wilco if they hung out with Jeff Lynne while jamming with Jellyfish with Todd Rundgren walking in the room unexpectedly. Their fourth album, with the amazing title of 4 (Earthling), begins with two sweet pop songs with the kind of hopeful lyrics that you want to give to your girlfriend as a gift (to say "hey, this is real music", but that's another story, another time) before they break into a nice rocker, "Pink Sand". Their style of power pop is complimented with a layer of guitars where you can hear the lightness of a Richenbacher and the heaviness of a Fender Strat or Telecaster, it's a nice mixture that also suits the lead and background vocals.
