Album Notes

In a conservative bedroom community, like Sudbury, you might expect a 33 year old graduate of Bates College to be an engineer, doctor, or lawyer. Not so in the case of Karl Steudel, a singer/songwriter who recently released his CD "Coyote Moon", a compilation of original piano compositions. "I view my life as a creative adventure, not looking to trends or social pressure to decide my destiny."
Karl has taught courses in the art of harvesting wild edible plants throughout eastern Mass. He has run a singing "Rap-o-Gram" service, creating custom hiphop music for birthdays and parties. He's been a film extra in the features "Celtic Pride" and "Goodwill Hunting". He currently hosts the well known "Karl Show" as seen on Sudbury's local access cable channel 61.

To Karl, the feedback from listeners of "Coyote Moon" is one its sweetest fruits. Some quotes from his fans......" (Coyote Moon) has been in my cars CD player for two months straight, because I listen to it almost every time I drive."......'Hello Mama' (track # 12) made me cry because I can sense the sadness in that song"...."I have been playing it all week, while preparing my art gallery for a premier opening, and it's been providing inspiration."

Steudel recorded all the music on this album within a span of five weeks. Foregoing the traditional recording studio, he instead chose to record at home in Sudbury using his own piano. "Commercial studios can be so sterile, so I opted to spend the money on my own state of the art recording equipment that would have otherwise gone to an engineer. Now I could feel comfortable, and not be under the clock . Such a state of mind is critical to catching a good performance. "

I am lucky to have made some good friends in the business .

This is really some exceptional music. Very nicely done. Those of us with no musical talent at all are thankful for the few that do have it. Thanks for the melodies!!! Darrin M. Kimble www.MusicEvolution.com
