This is the fifth album by Steve Bello Band, the first with the new line-up of Joe DeMott (basses) and Ed Faust (drums) as well as 7-string guitar player Steve Bello. Fans of such bands as Led Zeppelin, Pantera, Rush, Living Colour, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai will dig the heavy grooves alongside the heavy metal. Yet the music has a unique edge that separates it from other guitar-driven instrumental albums. Bello really works hard at crafting memorable melodies in addition to the crashing metal overtones. He feels that anybody can listen to the music, not just gearheads or metalheads. His attitude is, "If you can tap your foot to it, then I did my job well."
The presence of DeMott and Faust helped elevate the songs to another level, songs that Bello wrote almost four years ago. Whereas the songs started off as pretty good initially, Bello's new rhythm section adds twists and turns and keeps the listener interested. Songs such as "Surfing To Venus" (the first single) and the title track have a natural swing but also retain their power and heaviness. Though Bello is not averse to hair-flattening solos, he is mindful the the song comes first, above all else.
And to throw people off-guard even further, they will hear very bizarre breakdowns, jazzy runs, and an acoustic tune to break things up a bit.
