Album Notes

Steve Cone: Killing Time
Written, recorded and produced by Steve Cone
Recorded at In My World Studios Mesa, Arizona
January - July 2004.
All instruments by Steve Cone

Steve Cone might be new to you but with this his 9th solo release Killing Time, you will feel like old friends. This Arizona resident by way of New York has 15 new original tracks on his latest release and shows no sign of ever slowing down. Born in Rochester, New York Steve relocated to New York City to make it big! After a few hard years and near burnout he relocated to Tempe, Arizona to regroup. After a short break he began to build his home studio were all of his solo releases have been recorded. Steve's style has a European Metal feel with his own style stamped all over it. For those of you that remember the term New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, you will have an idea of were his roots are from. Melodic heavy metal might be one way to describe the style but you will have to judge for yourself. Listen to the samples and don't forget to go to www.stevecone.net for free mp3's from his other releases. In early 2004 he was asked to submit some music for a documentary that was being made about Thrash Metal. So he began to write songs with hope to be included in this documentary. Some of the songs on Killing Time as well as previous releases, have been used. With inclusion to the Get Thrashed documentary a new chapter has been opened in the life of Steve Cone.

REVIEWS

Recommended to all the lovers of the older heavy metal sound.
author: Andreas Kourtidis
This is a one-man’s band. Steve Cone has written, recorded and performed all the 15 tracks of this CD. And I have to admit that he did a very nice work. The music style that he follows is the 80’s old school’s melodic Heavy Metal with many influences from the New Way Of British Heavy Metal The performing is very nice and the production in a good level in the veins of this music style. The whole result has only one weakness and this is the many songs, because they are all in the same music style and in close tempos so after some time it is possible to get a little tired of them. I think that if the CD contained about 3-4 songs less the listening would be easier and funnier. After all it is hard to create 15 songs in the same good level so it would be better if only the best ones were included. Then we would have a very nice release that would last less and it would be in an excellent level from the beginning until the end. Anyway the important is that STEVE CONE is a very good musician with nice ideas so his work is recommended to all the lovers of the older heavy metal sound.
