Steve Crawford has been writing and performing music since the 1970's and has appeared as a solo artist, performed in an award winning trio and played in a popular county/rock band. His style has been described as Country Folk or Americana, having been influenced by numerous music genres: folk (Bob Dylan, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot), country (Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson), pop (James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet), and rock (the Eagles, Roy Orbison). Even the show tunes of Rogers & Hammerstein and Lerner & Lowell have been an influence on his music.
Steve has written over 100 songs and has even penned a musical stage play entitled Medora and the Marquis. The title song "Medora" has been closing the nightly summer musical production in Medora, North Dakota for the last 20 plus years and another piece from the musical entitled "Dear Heart" was the title cut for a Walt Disney valentine CD.
Steve's music has been recorded and performed across the country by numerous artists and has just been released on a new CD entitled "I'll Take Him Camping, Friday", which is also the title cut. Some of his songs are included on a forthcoming CD by another popular artist.
Steve is a three-time winner of the "Words By" contest sponsored by Song Writers Monthly magazine and his profile appeared in the July, 2001 issue. His song "I'll Take Him Camping, Friday" won the Country Division of the East coast songwriters contest and his performance of that song in Washington, DC received one of two standing ovations from his songwriting peers.
Spend 5 minutes listening to Steve's image provoking lyrics and emotion building melodies and you will see why his music keeps growing in popularity and demand. You can sample this tunesmith's music at CD Baby.com. Happy listening!

Good EZ listening
author: Jerry Lockwood
"I'll take him camping Friday" blends a soft EZ listening with a kinda folk/country sound. The title track is a nice song with nice piano playing. The lyrics
are heartfelt and would have to be considered a modern day "cat's in the cradle" theme. Photograph is a awesome song which blends great guitar picking, and a nice melody.
If you want a little faster countryish tempo, click on "Dead man walking" and "Don't come crying to me"
I personally like soft songs which you get plenty of on this disc. Everyone should give this disc a shot!!
