Album Notes

Steve Dunn, a singer/songwriter from Connecticut has a style described by one reviewer as a combination of rock/pop/contemporary with a new twist, combining acoustic and electric pop with country/rock influences for a new style and sound. Compelling music, yet with a calming vibe that is sure to connect with anyone.

Dunn, this low-key rocker, recently released his debut album, Ok to Drive in late 2004. Comprised of eleven original songs, the CD is soft-toned and smartly lyrical, yet with definite rock flair. According to Dunn, "The CD is a mix of acoustic and electric rock, filled with stories. Some true, some fiction."

The songs are a diverse brew of Dunn's tuneful guitar work and smart songcraft. Deceivingly simple, with universal stories of love and loss, Dunn surprises you with his wry, witty word play and memorable melodies. His versatile voice easily compliments the variety of styles on the disc including everything from the poignant and lyrical title track "Ok to Drive" to the more forceful "Are You With Me".

Born in 1978, and raised in New England, Dunn started playing professionally in 1996 with several cover bands. He made the rounds on the club circuit performing hits of other artists but soon decided to focus his attentions on writing and performing his own music. Gathering talented players James Thompson and Steve Sylvia, he headed into the Planet of Sound recording studio in Hartford, CT to make his debut album. The resulting effort, OK to Drive, was released in 2004.

Steve Dunn is a gifted and versatile musician whose abundant talent, and engaging performances have earned him a loyal local and growing national following. Fans describe him as a serious musician with a playful sense of humor. You can see Steve Dunn perform live at one of his shows, or hear his unique mix of rock/pop/contemporary music on his CD Ok to Drive.

I discovered this cd when, in a goofy mood, I typed my name into a google search, and your site came up. I bought it because I thought it would be cool to have a cd with my name on it. I listened to it and found it actually quite enjoyable. I'm a folkie myself and into Dylan and John Prine among others, so it was pretty much up my alley. Keep up the good work.
