Album Notes

With a nearly operatic voice and stunningly artful songs, Steve Erwin has somehow managed to fly beneath the radar of the folks who hand out awards. Despite this, he has quietly influenced many D. C. songwriters, and like his one-time accompanist Danny Gatton, Steve Erwin is rightfully regarded as the "Best Unknown" artist in D.C. today. The legendary Gatton appeared on Steve's album, "Was It Like This" which was recorded in 1988 and re-issued on CD to critical acclaim. Neil Fagan, of nationally distributed "Performing Songwriter Magazine" says, "Danny Gatton's chops accentuate Erwin's first-rate tunes so well, you'd think they'd been playing together all their lives."

Yes, I can sway to this

There is a magnetism to this music, the guitar playing and the voice, that pulls you in. Somewhat guiltily I admit that when I am checking out an artist I sometimes just listen to the first track and the third track. The song that an artist puts in "the 3-hole" is often my favorite. This time I was rewarded: "In Fall" is a melancholy mood number not to be missed. Recommended!
