STEVE FREDERIC GETS INTRODUCTION WITH HAVE WE MET?
Someone once said "Good music transcends the confines of a particular style and is simply good music." Steve Frederic is an artist who believes this to be true for any format, from classical to rock, and has written and produced a new CD tailored specifically to that idea. The album, entitled Have We Met?, is a melding of styles, and Frederic brings all of his musical influences together with one voice in this 10-track debut. Combining the high-energy of pop with the twanging undertones of country, the driving elements of rock and roll with the soulful honesty of blues, and the unique qualities of many other genres, Have We Met? is an explanation of Frederic's musical upbringing, his studies in a myriad of different styles and the lessons learned from such a diverse background. The bright and original feel of Frederic's first album has plenty of great things to offer the music world, and gives audiences an even better introduction to an innovative and insightful new artist.
Opening with the up-tempo What About These Things?, Have We Met? immediately sets the tone for a positively-themed record. With its consistent beat and happy feel, What About These Things? seems to be a mix of modern pop and early rock and roll. Following soon after, What They Didn't Know takes on the storytelling voice that was popular in the 50's, with a musical blend of modern rock and the classic surf rock of a past era. While many artists may seek to follow many of their influences to create their "own" sound, no one has been able to blend so many different styles to create an album with such a unified feel. With each track flowing evenly into the next, Have We Met? is remarkable in its cohesiveness, and the seamless transitions give credit to Frederic's insightful arrangements. The floating rhythms of popular single I Know a Girl helps to give the album a lighter feel and even Spellbound, sounding like the collaboration of Van Morrison and the Steely Dan, fits perfectly among the virtual melting pot of songs.
Steve Frederic has always been interested in music. Playing piano at a very young age, he was already playing publicly in bands and experimenting with writing by the time he was 11 years old. Trained classically as a pianist, but interested in popular music, like the Beatles, Frederic allowed his musical surroundings to influence his playing very early in his career. He eventually picked up the guitar, studying with jazz great Howard Roberts, founder of the Guitar Institute of Technology in California, and immediately taking to its orchestrative abilities and perfect solo readiness. Finally earning total comfort with the guitar, Frederic realized that the next step would be to begin writing his own music, and created his freshman recording, Have We Met?.
Steve Frederic's Have We Met? is the ultimate experimental compilation, with a user-friendly feel to every track and a joining of styles not found on any other album. The use of rock, pop, country, and blues, among others, gives this CD a form all its own and identifies Frederic as a musical innovator. With its unique atmosphere and upbeat theme, Have We Met? is a great addition to the collection of any music fan of any format.

"Frederic is a capable creative pop songwritter"
author: Chris Holly, Get Out Magazine
Steve Frederic's Have We met? contains 10 self-penned tunes that have a distinctly 80's new wave feel with clean guitar sounds and poppy songwritting. With it's himmable chorus and ringing guitars, the disc's leadoff track "What About These Things?" sounds like something The Cars might have released 20 years ago. The album's best cut "I Know a Girl" is a country-tinged story song with pedal steel flourishes reminiscent of the Eagles' "Lying Eyes" or "Peaceful Easy Feeling".

Frederic makes his point known with the guitar with lyrics to close the deal
author: Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck
Steve Frederic combines the gloss of pop, the twang of country, the dynamic rudiments of rock, and the down to earth character of the blues on his personal message to his listeners on a new album titled Have We Met?
Taken as a whole this is a very solid album with a lot of different things to present the folks that appreciate good old fashioned pure rock'n'roll songs that you can actually understand and relate to.
