In 1996 Steve Hall stepped out of the cockpit of his Reynard 92H Formula Atlantic race car and stepped back onto the stage to play his guitar for the first time since 1982. Long ago he had given up on his dreams of success in the music business, a dream he had clung to since he first began learning trumpet in the third grade. Then on Jan. 31, 1998, while playing a small New Years Eve party in Fresno, CA., Steve met and played with San Francisco Bay Area legend Clarence "Filmore Slim" Sims. While better known to some for his more nefarious activities, Filmore Slim also performs as a Blues guitarist and singer and is a talented song writer. Through Filmore's association with virtually all of the best players in the area, Steve soon met and was hired by legendary lap steel man, Sonny Rhodes. On his first tour with Rhodes, Hall was received enthusiastically by audiences from San Francisco to New York City and throughout Central and Eastern Canada.
Since then Hall has worked with artists including Handy Award winner and legendary Blues guitarist, singer and song writer, Joe Louis Walker, and most recently Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame inductee and B.B. King Lucille award winner, Larry Garner, an artist considered to be one of the top five contemporary Bluesmen in the world. In early 2003 Hall's efforts earned him a nomination from the Bay Area Blues Society as The West Coast Blues Hall Of Fame's Blues Guitarist of the Year. In April of 2003 he left Larry Garner's band and returned to his home in Stockton, CA to complete work begun nearly a year prior on his first solo recording project. Being new to the recording studio, the album took nearly a year and a half to complete. But Hall used the time wisely and penned an additional seven songs which have found their way onto this disc. The remaining titles, all written by Steve* were composed between 1974 and 1984 and sound as fresh as if written yesterday.
By the age of 58 most artists are looking at the downhill side of their careers but Steve Hall's is just beginning. His lyrics convey the emotions of a man still very driven, as do his passionate guitar licks. Don't expect this effort to be his last. As long as he can still walk onto a stage or into a recording studio you can bet that this "new" artist will be kicking out powerful and emotional new Blues!

"Hey Man.
Damn fine job on the CD. You're singing well. Give my regards to the engineer as he did a fine job too. Is that one of those Hep Cat Amps you're using? I must say, I'm proud of Stevie ol' boy. I'm really liking "Got Everything I Need". Once again, damn fine job."
