Acoustic music with electric instruments, coupling a folkie background with pop sensibilities and political anger to spawn songs about our age and outrage.
Steven Brant and the Phantoms - it smells fishy.
And self-contradictory, 'acoustic music with electric instruments.' It's not even true; half the instruments are acoustic.
And what band has folks with names like Geist and Specter and Revenant? Why aren't their pictures on the albums? What are they hiding?
Acoustic music with electric instruments. Phantoms indeed.
Something is definitely fishy here.
And catchy. And pissed at the folks running this country into the ground.
So mind the gap.
Mind the gap between true love of country and false patriotism; We Want Our Country Back.
Mind the gap between tax giveaways for the wealthy and the Termination Blues for the rest of us.
Mind the gap between power and leadership; King Canute knew the difference.
Mind the gap between truth and the irreligious right; parallel lines don't meet at The Border.
Mind the gap between love and distance; step up into The Middle of life and love.
Or just Mind the Gap. Period.
And mind that gap between the 60s and the 00s, between I-want-it-now and growth: grown-up love, growing American discord, growing older. Mind the gap between angst and anger. Mind the gap between naive earnestness and tunes you can dance to.
Get on the train before it leaves the station. Make sure you know where it's going. And watch your step; mind the gap.
