How would YOU describe the music and poetic performances of Steven D. Lightspring? "Heart-Centered", "Peacefully Passionate" and "Soulfully Aware", are just a few of the words some of his growing number of fans have used to describe the "soul" of his music. But what about the style? Just where do you "put" someone who plays "free folk", mostly finger-picking style acoustic guitar (or keyboard--and beyond) and blends it with deeply soothing, soulful, passionate vocals and combines this in a startlingly refreshing way with profoundly passionate poetic "spoken word" performances sprinkled throughout? About the time you think you have him "pegged, he might just surprise you with yet another unique sound, another poetic performance blended in the most surprising way with yet another flavor of subtly hypnotic music.
Sometimes one gets the feeling he's more of an actor who happens to sing from his soul as well. Or is he a singer who happens to love to "act"? Yet, is he "acting"? It feels more like he's "embodying" something very real in him. Some have said" channeling". Whatever it is, it's so deeply real, so splendidly "soulful", that many have felt "stunned" by the subtle, but sublime bliss and deeply peaceful undercurrent they feel flowing throughout so much of his words and work.
Could it be that he really is first and foremost a "Poet at Heart"? One who happens to have a deeply natural knack at performing his poetic lines as no one could quite ever come close to conveying them and then combine his poetic words with his own unique vocals that soothe the soul and music that somehow draws you in and captivates you? Could it be that his no less than SEVEN VOLUMES (over 600 pages) of "Poetic Bliss" he has published are evidence of this?
Could it be that his first first-ever public performance back in 2007 from his deeply poetic soul confirmed in him that he "just knew" he was doing what he was "born to do"? And doesn't it seem important to note that he says it was the moment he walked onto the stage, not the moment he walked off, that he first knew this beyond any doubt? Although it likely did help him somewhat to feel all the more like he had truly found his "calling" when the over 300 people in attendance that night graced him with an enthusiastic reception in his first ever "standing ovation" after that very first performance back in 2007.

Though truly unique in his specially-blended performances of words and music, Steven D. Lightspring has continued to purposefully write and passionately perform his uniquely-worded creations in many different venues. From being invited to share (in a reverent, almost whispered way) his early poetic performances at sound-therapy-oriented, Crystal Singing Bowl concerts on a monthly basis during his first year (2007-2008) to now creating more and more of his own vital and visionary blends of "sound healing", and incorporating an increasing number of elements of this even into his slightly more "mainstream" "soulful folk" music performances and other "poetic music" blends, he continues to create the most unique and surprisingly refreshing blends of meaningful words, soulful voice and soothing sound.
Spiritually, lyrically, and sometimes musically, reminiscent of one of his long-time inspirations, John Denver, and vocally compared on occasion to the softer, "Love Me Tender" side of Elvis Presley, he still finds it most intriguing--as well as humbling and deeply honoring--to often end up finding his words getting him labelled a "spiritual Dr. Suess" or, in a playful way, reminding some of the profound writings of the 13th century Sufi master poet, Rumi. But most of all, he is deeply committed to "just being" the best reflection possible of his own heart-and-soul journey, and the best beam of the unique Light of his own spirit. This is his passion, to encourage others to "be and beam" their own true Light, and hopes he can be a reminder of what he's convinced we all know "deep down", at the heart- and-soul level, about what matters most to us. This is why he has continued to write and perform his often-profound lyrics in his uniquely "passionately peaceful" and soulful way...on his favorite "bottomless" topics of Love, peace and Joy.

I wish the world could be less focused on what brings us down and more aware of...and celebrating...what truly lifts us up. I want to do my part to 'Shine deLight' through me and around me...to help make our 'heart journey' **here a bit brighter and more encouraging. Some of the most "uplifting words" that have ever flowed through my "Eagle Heart", I've "poured" into my 2013 album release, "Eagle Sky Views". I do hope you find it "Wildly Uplifting" and deeply encouraging! Will you join me in each of us doing our part to 'pick up the vibes' and spread the Light of encouragement around? I hope you will. And the words on this album just might be loaded with most helpful reminders to "be deLight" and do just that!
