notes

"...a masterful job...played with such sensitivity and artfulness. Steven certainly has a brilliant voice." - Mark Hayes, composer & arranger

Tenor Steven Snow is equally at home on the opera and theater stages. He has performed Cavaradossi in "Tosca," Rodolfo in "La Bohéme," Edgardo in "Lucia di Lammermoor," Luigi in "Il Tabarro," and Don Jose in "Carmen" in opera companies around the country. He was a participant in the Israel Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv and in 2003 he made his Carnegie Hall debut singing the tenor solo in Mozart's "Requiem" and "Vesperae Solemnes." Steven toured the U.S. & Canada as Juan Peròn in "Evita" and as Giuseppe in David Bell's "Phantom." A graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, he was the recipient of a Career Development Award from the Recording Industries Music Performance Trust Fund.

Pianist Rosetta Senkus Bacon has performed extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia with concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Taipei County Cultural Center in Taiwan, St. Moritz Cultural Center in Switzerland, and Kaunus Philharmonic Hall in Lithuania. A frequent guest at international festivals, Rosetta has served on faculties and performed at "The International Chamber Music Festival" in Taiwan, "International Artists Series" at the Kennedy Center, and "The International School of Performing Arts" in Bucks County, PA. In a lighter vein she was one of the duo-pianists in "Side By Side By Sondheim" starring Arlene Francis and Hermione Gingold. Rosetta is the founding member of the trio "Brass Roots Trio."

Be sure to look for Steven and Rosetta this coming Advent season when they will be appearing throughout the northeastern U.S. with their program "A Promise of Light," which features songs found on this CD!

  • eine schöne CD

In diese Vorweihnachtszeit passende Lieder, schön interpretiert mit einfühlsamer Klavierbegleitung. Zusammenfassend: Ich freue mich, diese CD gekauft zu haben.

  • Great selection
    author: Al

It is not easy to find a great selection of music for one occasion. The combination of Mr. Snow and Ms. Bacon is superb. However, I think the mike was a bit closer to the piano and too far from the singer.

I loved all the songs! I soon discovered that this was not going to be a thrice-warmed-over, oldie but goodie, background music, setting the mood for baking Christmas cookies and wrapping presents, sort of Christmas CD. This is powerful, manly, robust Christmas music that demands most of one's attention while listening to it. The Spirituals were super, and I especially liked "Mary Did You Know?"

  • WOW! This guy can really bring it! Hold on to your hat!

Sometimes an artist will only showcase their most dramatic ability. Not so with this man. The selections chosen provide a spectrum of arenas that highlight the full range of abilities. The instrumentals are quite enjoyable also.

  • Great mix
    author: Jack

This is a nice mix of classic and contemporary pieces, and I especially like the jazz flavors of some of the pieces as well as the solo jazz. Mr. Scott is in fine voice, and Ms. Bacon is very comfortable in all the different styles. Very nice album.

  • Excellent, Rich and strong voice of good resonant quality, fantastically impress

CD is excellent.clear and clean recording. It's as good as presenting the original voice, and the deep touching intrepretation of the singer and the accompanist. Impressive.

  • I'll enjoy it often this christmas season.

  • Really nice mix of great vocals and instrumentals
    author: Gerry

This CD contains both familiar and not so familiar religious and secular seasonal selections in a fresh and easy to listen to mix of vocal and instrumental presentations.
