Album Notes

Steve Van started writing his new album “The River” in 2005 and it began a journey of self-discovery. After 10 years of collaboration with various musicians, bands and songwriters, Steve feels he has finally produced an album that is a true reflection of who he is, and what he wants to say. Steve Van’s first album “Getting Stronger” (2002) received favourable reviews. Songs from the album were play-listed on a number of radio stations and featured on TV shows. Steve views Getting Stronger as an important solo project, as this was his first opportunity to express his own song-writing capability. Previously he had written and played for the bands Junglebook Vultures and Rust. The new album is a collection of 10 acoustic rock tracks. Each song conveys a strong individual message, which combines to tell a powerful story, similar to streams of water that flow together to create a river. “The River” was recorded and produced by Craig Ormond at Big Leap Records in Cape Town, South Africa.
