All Killer Music proudly presents 'Greatest Trips', eleven corking rock and twisting roll numbers from Melbourne's garage pop kings the Stiff Kittens.

It includes tracks that didn't see the light of day in Australia, including the Tony Cohen-produced 'Fat Boy', single of the week in Britain's Melody Maker. This song caused a huge commotion for the band overseas but they split before they got back home to promote it locally.

This new compilation finally puts it all together. ItÕs wild indie rock from the early 1990s - but remastered 2007-style. And itÕs delivered in one sweet and tasty 37-minute mouthful. Simply, it rocks. Or as Damien
Lovelock announced during the band's only Triple J session: "They said they were going to go off - and
they did!"

Members of the Kittens came from and went on to form outfits such as The Arctic Circles, The T-Bones, Moler, SEK, The Tommys, Turtle Box and The Reveels. But that doesn't matter much here: between 1991 and 1995, they were scratching hard to get out of a room in North Carlton...

Background
It only lasted a few years but in that time the Stiff Kittens delivered four classic EPs of edgy, inspired rock
and roll - there wasn't a band on the planet that sounded anything like them.

They were signed directly to a London label in 1992 following a wild performance at a barge party in
Amsterdam.

First release, 'As You Walk', is the stuff of one-day recording legend. "Rock and roll doesn't get much better than this," said Jeff Jenkins in Inpress when the four-tracker finally hit the shelves. But it did.

Second EP, the six-tracker 'Eat the Peanuts', was the sound of the Melbourne summer 1993, and then came Fat Boy, 'Single of the Week' in Britain's super-influential Melody Maker.

Tours to the US and UK followed, including legendary dates in Boston (Local 186), New York (CBGBs and Bat Cave), and the UK (London's Forum and Glasgow's Barrowlands).

Final four-tracker Face came hot on the heels but by then the rubber was burning. Just as quick as it had started, the Kittens exploded like a string of Chinese firecrackers.

The madness of those few years meant little had been preserved and it is only recently that the original
master tapes were located again in London.

We've selected the best eleven here, remastered them at Edensound, Melbourne with Martin Pullan, and we reckon
this is ear-shattering, classic 90s independent rock and roll.
