Album Notes

The idea behind the title Delights of X, Remorse of Y relates to the charting of an emotional journey along an emotional axis, where cause and effect, internal as well as external, wilfully creates a new space between the historical and abstract. Acceptance of Europa with its 40s French radio broadcasts and chiming tonal echoes create such a space, where swelling chordal positives resound against underlying pessimistic drones.

Rather than making a singular statement Delights as a whole is a work of dreamlike pluralism where familiar sounds soak into each other forcing emotional climaxes reminiscent of the paintings of Bacon, MirĂ³ and De Chirico. This puts Stillborn with Apples in the same musical territory as David Sylvian, Schoenberg, Cluster and Sunn O))).

Each of these tracks is a landscape of someone dreaming, fluidly moving between wish fulfilment and regret, between control and the endless and finding peace. The final track Deadhome conjures that peace, waves of satisfaction and discordant whims reaching their equilibrium and emerging pure.
