Album Notes

Bob Stillman's talents as a singer, composer and lyricist soar on his debut CD "Come Down Angel." Well known to New York audiences for his appearances at such venues as the Cutting Room, Wilson's and Elaine's, Stillman has also been lauded for his dazzling Tony-nominated performance as pianist and actor in Broadway's "Dirty Blonde," his searing portrayal of a dying singer/songwriter in the Off-Broadway hit "The Last Session." and his current standout performance in Broadway's "Grey Gardens." His debut CD shines with thirteen original songs that defy genre and speak directly to a diverse audience.

Bob was born in New York City and at an early age began studying piano at Juilliard. His musical influences range from Brahms to Joni Mitchell, from Kurt Weill to James Taylor, From Randy Newman to the Beatles to Sting. Add to the mix the wit, intelligence and passion of Bob's lyrics, and the blues/jazz/funk chops of co-producer and monster bass player Tom Corwin (who has worked with Bonnie Raitt, Booker T. and many others), and the result is an album of uncommon subtlety, depth, drive, and above all, heart. Bob Stillman writes tightly structured, finely crafted songs, dealing with everything from lost love to race, from the quest for connection to the quest for fame.

Check out "Come Down Angel" and you'll know you're in the presence of a singular artist, equal parts composer, wordsmith and vocalist. This CD is a true stand-out.

Fantastic CD
author: Brian P. Allen
Since purchasing Bob Stillman's Come Down Angel two weeks ago, this has been my most frequently played CD. The more I play it the more I love it. Great songs, great feel and just a really fine album of original songs. Highly recommended. My partner heard it playing and came into my office to see what it was. Now he's hooked, too. Excellent work!

Extraordinary
author: David Bomke
I was first introduced to Bob's musical talent when I saw Grey Gardens before it moved to Broadway last year. I found his performance in that piece very moving and was very pleased to learn that he was performing some of his own music last month at The Cutting Room. His performance there (even without the extra treat of Christine Ebersole's joining him on stage!) was as compelling in its own way as his performance in Grey Gardens, and I felt compelled to purchase this CD. Since then I have continued to enjoy the blend of instruments supporting his piano playing, as well as the additional voices occasional augmenting his singing. There are clearly three stars on the CD -- Bob the composer and lyricist; Bob the pianist; and Bob the singer. Purchasers of this CD will truly win the "trifecta" of talent!
