Album Notes

"...a band of ragged, Stones-y shufflers with an endless supply of truly fine whiskey rockers to wooze away the weekend with. Imagine the Black Crowes with a grudge."
- Classic Rock Magazine

"It's fair to say that if future bands want an example of how best to do this, they need look no further than this astonishing record of 12 howling gems. A cornucopia of folk, rock, blues and country, the dozen songs leap from the speakers and inject a life and a charisma that hasn't been felt in this genre in quite a long time."
- Absolute Punk

"Reserve your seats on the Stone Foxes' train now, because once the Black Keys, White Stripes and Mother Hips crowds get wind of these four guys' throwback Rolling Stones/Buddy Guy/Muddy Waters blues rock gift package, it's going to be a full ride."
- The Record (Best of the Bay)

"You simply can’t talk about 2009 buzz bands with out mentioning this blues-driven rock quartet from San Francisco."
- The Wave Magazine

"So. Freakin’. Awesome."
- The Bay Bridged

"A pack of cherubic youngsters that sound like men twice their age who've lived twice as hard...The Stone Foxes produced a gorgeous self titled record."
- LAist

"A clear contender for one of 2009's early buzz bands."
- Phoenix New Times

"The San Francisco quartet sounds like a more snarling version of the Rolling Stones in their Muddy Waters days."
- Las Vegas City Life

"Welcome to the slaughter, and that is not a bad thing. These kids spit it mean."
- The Waster.com (4 out of 5 stars)

"Their music crunches with a psychadelic swagger reminiscent of a Haight-Ashbury soundtrack, muscled up for the new millenium."
- Paul Gargano, Rock Journalist

"Rollin' and Tumblin' from The Stone Foxes, my favorite new song of the week."
- Elwood Blues (aka. Dan Aykroyd)

"Though I know it's a fatal blunder for music writers to prophesize, I'll do it anyway: The Stone Foxes are gonna be huge."
- Kat Renz, San Francisco Bay Guardian

"Everyone must get a Stone Foxes song into their iPod."
- Delfin Vigil, San Francisco Chronicle

"Half way through one listen to The Stone Foxes track 'Beneath Mt. Sinai' was all it took before I knew I had to play it on Radio Soundcheck!"
- Aaron Axelsen, Live 105 Music Director/DJ

The Stone Foxes are a rock and roll band based in San Francisco, CA. Heavily influenced by the great rock, blues, folk and country stars of the 60s and 70s, the Stone Foxes play a unique brand of loose rock and roll and heavy, dirty blues that is otherwise lacking in today's music scene. Aaron Mort and brothers Spence and Shannon Koehler grew up playing music in the hills of California’s Central Valley, but it was not until after relocating to San Francisco for school that the three actually met and started playing music together. Los Angeles native/musician Avi Vinocur was introduced through a friend, and they all moved into a house in the Sunset, quickly converting the garage into their practice space. With two years in the San Francisco rock and roll scene under their belts, the Stone Foxes have contributed in keeping the spirit of San Francisco’s vibrant music scene alive. Quickly making friends with local bands and music fans, the Foxes have been gaining attention for their live shows that pack a heavy punch with personality to match. With warm overdriven amps, saturated bass, thumping drums, smokey vocals and a wailing blues harp, the Stone Foxes bring it down low and crank it up when the groove gets tight.

A really great album/group, hopefully they will do the European cicuit soon. Leeds / Reading festival would lap this up. If they don't do Europe, how about Tampa Fl in early August when I'm there!!
