In The Beginning......
STONEFREE first came into being a band in 1972. Since that time there have been several musician changes and several pauses in playing by the group. It wasn't till 2002 that Jason Stone, AKA Greg Trumpower, decided it was time for some of the songs to make it into the mainstream for listening. My first album, "Thinkin' Bout You" is available for purchase through CDBaby.com and if you check out the download music sites, you will find a few of those songs offered for FREE.
The songs all tell of various moments in the my life. In the track, "I'd Like To Be Home With My Baby". I sing about the pain of waiting on my girlfriend to be released from prison and why she was there in the first place;
"Somebody Don't Like Me", describes how my brother got shot while going out to shoot pool one night by a sniper.....which to this day.....has never been caught;
"All For You (Sweet Kitten)" and "Blues For You Baby", reflects on the longing for my locked up girlfriend;
"Chris's Song", the story about my son, shortly after his birth, wondering what thoughts are going through his mind as he crawls up next to his Daddy in the bed.
"Lonely & Blue",and "Without You" are about my marriage breaking up.
"Hats & Boots", The life and dreams of living in West Virginia.
"Remember Me", After any breakup, everyone wants to be reembered.....don't they?
" Thinkin Bout' You" and "Lonely and Blue" reflect back on the mis-fortunes of Love.
"Money Talks"..a summary of the Life Of Stone.
First, upon entering the studio I laid down the melody, guitar rythyms, vocals and harmonies, and drumwork..... The engineer, Zack Mabie volunteered to do the Bass tracks and Mike Wilson, was asked to present the Lead Guitar, Banjo and Harmonica work. On two of the songs, Remember Me and All For You, Eddie Oliver presented his Lead Guitar lics to the songs. "Thinkin' Bout You" was released in December of 2002.
Today, I perform solo and continue to record my songs at ZAX TRAX Studios in Frederick, Md. I just finished a 3-song single release entitled, JASON STONE- "Stoned Again". Pack Up Your Pipe, Nobody Cared, and Ride the Train are the three songs on this single cd release. Recorded in Zax's studio...where else? Published by NBT Music BMI, Ride The Train is going to be on a compilation of NBT Records coming out in another month or so. Artists from all over the world have submited their train songs for John Newbraugh to select from and incorporate into his comp. This will make Volume #10 of the Ride The Train Series.
I have written for Solo Magazine under the pseudonym of Jason Everheart....The band I performed in was called, Stonefree...hence the name - Jason Stone will be used in my Solo endeavors.
I hope that you enjoy my MUSIC Creations as much as I did when I made them.
