Album Notes

Strange Brew is an exciting Blues,Blues/rock band that blends the sound of classic garage bands with the language and rhythms of the blues.

Founding members Marcy Eustice (lead vocals, flute, and percussion) and Fran Rifugiato (guitars) have been honing their diverse musical abilities for years. Marcy previously sang with a variety of gospel and country bands. She is also a classically trained flute player.

Fran, as a member of the FINGERS and the FEATURES, was instrumental in the development of the punk music genre in New York City in the late 1970's. He also released a CD and a 12 inch single in the mid 1980's on Profile Records with the band THE SICILIAN VESPERS. Fran has also spent time playing with a number of rockabilly bands.

Strange Brew was an immediate success, winning the coveted BEST NEW BAND award, as voted by the readers of IN PITTSBURGH magazine. After playing the local bar scene for a few years, Strange Brew signed an international recording deal with Adelphi records.

Following their signing, they released their first CD of originals called LOST AND BROKENHEARTED, which was added to blues radio stations play lists around the country. LOST AND BROKENHEARTED has also been played on the BLUES DELUXE nationally syndicated radio show, and was featured by Dan Aykroyd as the Pick of the Week on his internationally syndicated radio show, THE HOUSE OF BLUES RADIO HOUR.

2003 has Strange Brew releasing an exciting new CD called BLUES CAULDRON, which is being released through Riff Records. It has been called a "cool modern twist on the blues."

REVIEWS

Excellent understanding of blues music. Interesting song writing
author: Fred
Interesting mix of blues and rock. Moves from traditional blues on some songs to blues-rock on others. Songwriting is refined with very interesting story-telling. My favorite is "Grim Reaper." Lead singer has a powerful, beautiful voice. Lead guitar reminds me of Clapton's style....takes over the lead when needed, then sinks back into the background for concise rhythms.
