Album Notes

We started Strange Radio as a double female/male lead vocal band back in 2001, and shortly thereafter we won the Artist's Direct "Born On The Web" contest's Grand Pize!! We won first place in the pop category, and also the overall Grand Prize. Because of that, we got to play the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, California as the opening act for Third Eye Blind, The Go-Gos, Billy Idol, Counting Crows and more.

Since then, we have gone through a few changes. We have stream-lined to a single lead female vocal only and are best described as an edgy, radio-friendly alterna-pop, Los Angeles-based band with ear-candy female vocals, catchy grooves, and hook-oriented songs that you will walk away humming.

We would love you to buy our latest CD, "Special Betty" (2007) and help support the unsigned indie industry!!

You won't be sorry. ;)

Refreshing New Music: Special Betty

Part of the reason I like Strange Radio is they don't perform pretentious, hollywood songs, they're simpler somehow, not pure commercial, not materialistic. Heartfelt, clever, tongue-in-cheek sometimes, and Kira has a really fun voice. She wrote the songs too. I like about all of the songs on Special Betty. PS- there's an equally great version of their powerful song "I Believe" on Pop Radio... I recommend that album as well.

Wonderful

I picked this up a few months back based on a friend's recommendation but hadn't gotten around to listening to it. Then I recently got the first new album in 20 years by one of my favorite bands, and while putting it on my iPod I added this CD as well. I hadn't heard of Strange Radio before, so imagine my surprise by the fact that ... It's really wonderful. I've only listened to the new CD by one of my favorite bands a handful of times, but I keep coming back to this one. It's hard to pick one word to describe the songs because the band doesn't have one style. One song may be hauntingly beautiful and moving, the next may be upbeat and fun, and the next may be something else entirely. The one constant is the band's creativity and the beautiful voice of the lead singer. My favorite song is the beautiful "I Believe." It must be a world full of strange radios, because there's no other explanation for this band not being played on them.

I just "happaned" upon this band's CD as I was surfing around CD baby, and I bought this CD on a whim and I am so impressed with it. These guys should be on the radio. The song "James Bond" is especially impressive ... a hard topic to do justice to and they have succeeded with flying colors!
