Album Notes

"Tim Wheeler is the next star in the
Texas Blues Constellation."
Darin Wakeley, Dallasmusic.com

Tim Wheeler picked up the guitar at age 15 and has been captivating audiences ever since. From the age of 9, Tim had been recognized regionally as a child prodigy on drums. But after hearing Johnny Winter's White Hot & Blue, Tim's passion turned to the guitar. After the awards and honors his drumming had brought, who could have known that his real genius would shine through on a Stratocaster?
In 1984, Dallas' Buddy Magazine chose Tim as a 'Texas Tornado', an honor he shares with the likes of Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Johnson and Willie Nelson (to name a few). He spent the 80's and 90's paying his dues at clubs, festivals, fun-runs and watering holes throughout Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, spending several years on Austin's renowned 6th Street. In 1997 Tim started an independent record label (Ally Cat Records) out of Tyler, TX, and has had moderate success selling cd's out of his van. Stratisfaction Guaranteed was the first release and it brought great reviews in several national publications, as well as being featured twice on Dan Aykroyd's House of Blues Radio Hour. The album was heard by a Belgian promoter who now brings Tim and the band overseas every year for tours in Belgium, Holland & Luxemburg.
In the summer of '98, the band was featured on the All-You-Can-Eat Texas Music Café, a syndicated PBS show. The live recording later became the 2nd album on Ally Cat Records. This limited release edition (now simply known as The Black Album) sold out quickly. That same summer a live performance was recorded at Kid's Rhythm 'n' Blues Danskaffee in Antwerp, Belgium. In the fall of '99 that recording was released as Extrataganza (Kid's 'n' Blues Records); the release coincided with a European tour for the band, and was wildly successful! Extrataganza is available throughout Belgium & Holland
Tim's latest release, Stratisfier, (Ally Cat Records 2001) combines hot electric blues & booty-shakin' funk, with a dash of acoustic delta blues...there's something here for every music lover!
Tim & long-time friend and bass player, Steve Graham, both feel that this is their best album yet.
