Good Stuff and a top notch live band...

Straydaway's first CD packs a lot of different styles, but I heard them live and they have become an even more versatile band. They'll rock you, groove you, funk you, and drive you from one end of the spectrum to the other. This is a great CD and the sophomore CD is set to be even better with a hopeful release in early 2007. Get this CD and make a point to see these guys live.

It seems that when someone writes a music review for a new band or artist, there’s a need to compare that band or artist with other familiar names. With Straydaway, it’s difficult to determine what band that would be. I guess if Tom Petty, John Fogerty, John Prine, The Counting Crows and The Gin Blossoms came together to create a Record/CD, there might be a sound that would resemble Straydaway. Paul McCartney once said of the Beatles music, “a hit song is one that sounds familiar the first time you hear it”. Straydaway has that resemblance. However, with Straydaway, it’s not the music that’s so familiar but the lyrics. The lyrics of every song on the CD are about life and not just the life of the writer but the lives of every listener. Familiar subjects such as love (longing for love, love lost, forbidden love and love remembered), dealing with the loss of family or friends, regrets of the past or the grace of everyday life, it’s all here. I recommend this Record/CD to anyone.
