StrayOtic is an electro-acoustic funk duo based out of Ottawa, Canada. Musical inspiration is fueled by such legendary greats as Daft Punk, Chromeo, Roger and Zapp, Hot Chip, Beck, Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai. The duo is comprised of multi-instrumentalists Mathieu Dubé (also a professional sculptor and visual artist) on lead vocals, keyboards, didgeridoo, talk box, melodica, harmonica and percussion and Yves Néron (also a professional cubicle dweller) on vocals, keyboards, talk box, percussion, congas, beat programming and live drum machine. They first met at the age of ten during a fierce schoolyard beatboxing battle. They've been working together on various musical projects ever since.
In 2008, the StrayOtic pair decided it was time to focus on their debut album and took a break from the rat race to isolate themselves in a Chinatown basement recording studio. After six-months and twelve-hour days, it was done!
More recently, StrayOtic had the honour of being part of Mercedes-Benz's 25th edition of Mixed Tape. The duo is now looking forward to being featured on the cover of the fashion and culture magazine The Dinner Jacket.
